Hidden Heroes: Turkish Athletes in Unknown Sports

Everyone, today I want to talk about Türkiye’s success in some sports. I want to start with Toprak Razgatlıoğlu. I wanted to start with this name because he is newer than other names, and his sport is the first time Türkiye is competing in the sport which he does. He is not actually competing for Türkiye, but he is representing us very well. Now he is competing in MotoGP. MotoGP is the most prestigious of motor racing. Since 2018, he competed for Kawasaki, Yamaha, and BMW. He became champion in 2021, 2024, and 2025, and he is so young still that he can be an icon for MotoGP.

I want to continue with Cep Herkülü (Pocket Hercules) Naim Süleymanoğlu. I think he is one of the best athletes because he has many world records and many Olympic records, and he became a three-time Olympic champion. He achieved all of these things in impossible conditions. He was living in Bulgaria with his family, but Bulgarians did not want Turks in their country and were pursuing racist policies. Still, his story is a huge success story.

Our third name is Yasemin Adar Yiğit. She is the first Turkish world wrestling champion. She has a bronze medal in the 2020 Summer Olympics, and she is a seven-time European champion and a three-time world champion. Actually, she is a legend.

Another wrestler, Rıza Kayaalp, is also very successful. He has two bronze medals and one silver medal in the Olympics. He became champion five times in the world championships and twelve times in Europe.

There is a diffrent name Emre Zafer Barnes is a Turkish sprinter who competes in short-distance running. Sprinting is not very common in Türkiye, so his success is meaningful. He represents Türkiye in international races with hard work and discipline. Even though he is not very famous, he runs with and gives hope to young athletes. 

I Want to tell something gör last name İlke Özyüksel is a Turkish athlete who competes in modern pentathlon. This sport is very difficult and not well known in Türkiye. She represents Türkiye in international competitions with strong determination. Even though she is not very famous, her hard work and courage inspire young athletes to believe in their dreams.
