Ram Crisis

Nowadays, have you ever thought that “Why are RAM and SSD prices are so high?”  I asked the same question and found out that we are in the biggest heist in the technology world. The manufacturers of these RAM and SSDs are trying to make us pay a lot more than usual for small amounts of mid-storage components.

There are 3 main memory producers in the world: Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron Technology. These companies are own nearly %99 percent of the memory production and our only change to get some ram from them. Now, these companies sell all of their products to AI centers.

Micron just announced that they are going to stop producing RAM and SSD to Crucial brand and closing the Crucial at the end of February 2026. Samsung won’t even sell their memory to his sub-brand. SK Hynix sold their entire 2026 chip line-up in strong AI demand signal. The situation is that dire.

Why Samsung won’t even sell their memory to their sub-brand? It is because Samsung Semiconductor is selling all their RAM to AI data centers. They are calling this shortage a RAMagedon. Because of this thing, RAM prices are gone up by 3-4 times expensive. Last summer, you could have got a 16 GB of RAM for 100-120 $, but nowadays, you can get this RAM for 250-300 $. This is insane.

AI data centers need some sort of storage devices based on NAND and DRAM. These specific types of storage devices are produced by 3 companies. These 3 companies are not selling memory to users as if they had agreed.

If you ask me, this is not coincidence. They make an artificial shortage on memory and make these prices much more expensive that we can’t buy. Last step is to make us rent these devices instead of purchasing them.
