Bosnia and Herzegovina is a multicultural southeastern European country with a population of 3.281 million and an area of 51,197 km². The country uses Bosnian, Serbian, and Croatian as official languages with Bosniaks, Serbs, and Croats as the major ethnic groups. The capital city is Sarajevo, having embraced influences from the Ottoman era. The local currency is the Bosnia and Herzegovina Mark (BAM) with 1 BAM equivalent to approximately 9 Turkish Lira. The state comprises two parts, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska.
