The “Same Beat” Crisis in Turkish Rap!

The Turkish rap stage is shaking up with a new discussion this week. Popular artists such as “Sefo” and “Organize” have created a huge agenda on social media by using a similar beat in their latest songs.

The discussion about “using the same beat” in the Turkish rap world has reignited. The most listened-to names of the last period, “Organize”, “Sefo”, and many other rappers, have used similar rhythms and melodic infrastructures in their new songs, dividing the fanbase.

On social media, many fans started discussing the situation as soon as the tracks were shared, comments like “Isn’t the beat the same?” and “They’re using the same beat again because the song was a hit” were posted. While some fans thinking that the artists are continuing with the same beat because the song is a hit, others argued that they are using the same beat because it’s difficult to create different beats in the music industry.

“Sefo”, energetic pop-trap style in his latest songs appeals to a large audience, but in order to keep this sound, he often chooses beats from the same infrastructure. However, according to claims, Sefo used the same beat structure in seven different songs. These songs: Bilmem mi?, Affettim, Tutsak, ISABELLE, Kördüğüm, Veda Saati, and Beni beni. All these songs have the same beat, but only their tempos are different. Sefo used this tactic for two years and both made a lot of money and had a huge audience.

“Organize” used the same beat as Sefo exactly 7 times. These songs are: Shevchenko, Brapap, Oğuz Alper Oktem, Sağdan Sola, İsterseniz Yanlış Anlayın, Balmain. the beat for all these songs is the same, only the tempo is different.

While the discussion is going nowhere, the music world is asking: “Are similar beats in Turkish rap a sign of creative stagnation, or a natural result of changing production styles?”I think that using the same beat too much is getting boredom. It disappoints me that big rappers like “Organize” and “Sefo” are doing this. Hopefully they’ll discontinue using the same beat.
