THE THINGS WE CAN DO FOR GAZA
I want to start by saying assalamu alaikum, which means “May Allah’s peace be upon you”. In this article, God willing, I will explain the genocide which is in Gaza but against all Muslims. Firstly, let us learn the meaning of “Genocide”. Genocide means “To destroy a human society”. The genocide is in Gaza but the target is not only Palestinian people. The target is all Muslims and Islam. In this situation, can a Muslim say that does not concern us? The answer is “No” but some people (!) can say this ugly sentence. Anyway, let us turn to our main topic. The persecution did not start on 7 October; it started in 1948. There was already a persecution. Since 7 October, Israel just increased its massacres. For years, Israel has killed babies, children, women, men, and elderly people. Also, they bomb hospitals, schools, homes, and lots of civilian residential areas. Even, Israel uses forbidden guns and bombs. Like a phosphorus bomb. Despite everything the world keeps its silence. Even Muslims keep their silence. So, the question which should be asked here is this question: What can we do for Palestine? We can answer this question in three titles:
- BOYCOTT: The first thing we can do for Palestine is “Boycott”. In the world, there are lots of brands and companies that help baby killer Israel directly or indirectly. By not buying these products, we can support Palestine and obstruct the support for Israel. You may ask if the boycott will work. We can answer this question with two examples:
1. COCA COLA: In the last quarter of 2023, Coca-Cola’s sales volume decreased % by 22.¹ Think about their situation in 2024. Also, they wrote some phrases on their products in Türkiye. Like “ With Esra’s labor,” and they wrote “ Was produced in Türkiye” below “With Esra’s labor.” Those phrases are just a perception operation.
2. BURGER KING: Burger King had to change their name because of the boycott act. In Türkiye, they changed the company’s name to “Börgır”. This word is the Turkish pronunciation of “Burger King”.
2. MAKING DUA: In a hadith, Prophet Muhammed says, “The dua is the believer’s weapon, the pillar of religion, the light of the heavens and the earth.” So we can not live without our weapons against lots of enemies. We need to make dua for us and our siblings.
3. Reminding The Genocide: People go to work and school and have a very busy life. In this situation, people can forget the main issue. So we have to remind the issue. Well, how can we remind our main issue? The answer has lots of options. We can remind people of the genocide in Gaza by posting on social media, organising conferences with a Gaza theme, making news on news channels, teaching lessons about Gaza… You can add other options.
In summary, we have lots of solutions for Gaza and our siblings. We, as Muslims, have to be helpful and do the steps that were written.
