Why should we use Linux ?

For someone who has used Windows for their whole life, it might be hard to accept that Linux is better than Windows or any other popular operating system. Even though I was using Windows for a long time, now I know that Linux is much more better than Windows. Perhaps, you didn’t even know Linux existed. In this text, I am going to tell you why Linux is better. So, let’s start.

First, I want to talk about the customizability of Linux. Linux is way more customizable than Windows. You can change everything on Linux, like the taskbar, file manager, display manager, or even the operating system itself.  In Windows, you can do pretty much anything, but there are some limitations. You can’t change your display manager, file explorer, etc. Linux is open-sourced, so you can do anything you want. Even if you want to change your whole operating system or make one, nobody will stop you from doing that because Linux is not an operating system. It is just a kernel, and a kernel is a layer that is between your hardware and software. It means that you can make your own operating system from scratch!

Then, there is privacy. In Windows, you don’t know what Windows is doing in the background because the operating system is proprietary. You only know the things that Windows is showing to you, but in Linux, you can control every part of the system. They can’t just steal your information and sell it to other companies because Linux is developed by millions of software developers.

On the other hand , there is security. In Windows, there are a lot of malicious files all around the internet. You may accidentally install one, and your computer will be destroyed, or they will steal your information, but in Linux, there are almost no malicious files. If you want to install one. You will have to find one first. There were quite a lot of malwares for Linux. That’s because over %90  of the servers or computers all around the world use Linux for their machines. Hackers want to get some part of them, so they write malicious apps or files. Fortunately, these malwares are hard to reach and install on your computer.

You can still use Windows for your main device, but I think you learned that there are alternatives to Windows. I want to end this text with a fun fact. Android is based on Linux, and that makes it the most used operating system now.
