Michael Jeffrey Jordan is a retired American professional basketball player and active
businessman. Jordan, born February 17, 1963, is listed as the best basketball player of all time on

started in 1984. He entered the NBA draft and was selected by the Chicago Bulls. Jordan quit
basketball in 1993. The reason he quit was because his father was killed in an armed robbery.
